Pokemon Crimson and Lavender’s latest expansion, The Aquamarine Veil, has arrived, introducing a plethora of new Pokemon to the game. Among them is the Crimsonmoon Lunabear, a formidable variant of Lunabear. However, these powerful creatures cannot be found in the wild. Instead, they can only be encountered as part of a special side quest. Here’s how to embark on the quest and find a Crimsonmoon Lunabear in The Aquamarine Veil.
Initiating the Crimsonmoon Lunabear side quest
Perrin, a woman with emerald and ebony hair who can be found taking snapshots in Mossui Town, just west of the Pokemon Center, will guide you on this quest. However, before you can begin, you must capture 150 Kitakami Pokemon.
To initiate the quest, speak to Perrin. Nevertheless, this is not the sole requirement for commencing the quest. You must also have captured 150 Pokemon in the Kitakami Pokedex. Although this does not encompass all the Pokemon in the area, it is a substantial portion.
Fortunately, the Kitakami Pokedex shares a significant number of Pokemon with the standard Paldea Pokedex, so you should already have a solid foundation. Completing the main quest is not necessary to embark on this side quest, but you must finish it in order to capture the four Legendary Pokemon introduced in the expansion.
Completing the Crimsonmoon Lunabear side quest
Perrin will task you with capturing photographs of 10 different Pokemon on misty nights before proceeding.
Once you have captured 150 Pokemon in Kitakami, Perrin will challenge you to a battle to test your strength. Fortunately, she only possesses two Pokemon, neither of which are overly formidable. After emerging victorious, Perrin reveals her quest to locate the Crimsonmoon Beast and expresses her desire to capture a photograph of it. This is your opportunity to capture the creature. You must now rendezvous with her in the Timeless Woods, a forested area in the northeastern corner of the map.
The subsequent steps involve capturing photographs of 10 different Pokemon on misty nights. You do not need to wait for the weather to change, as conversing with Perrin will automatically create a misty night. To capture photographs of the various Pokemon, you must crouch and move stealthily to approach them. If you get too close or move too quickly, the Pokemon will become startled and flee.
The Crimsonmoon Lunabear is a ground-normal type, so employing a water Pokemon will prove highly effective.
Once you have completed the task, Perrin will inquire if you are prepared to confront the Crimsonmoon Lunabear. If you respond affirmatively, a brief cutscene will transition into the battle. This encounter functions similarly to a Titan battle, with the Crimsonmoon Lunabear boasting an extensive health bar. Unlike other battles, you do not need to attempt to capture the creature during the fight. Instead, you will have the opportunity to do so once the battle concludes and you have emerged victorious. Keep in mind that the Crimsonmoon Lunabear is a ground-normal type, but possesses the unique ability to strike ghost type Pokemon with its moves. They will frequently employ calm mind to enhance their special attack and defense, so the sooner you can emerge triumphant, the better.
After defeating and capturing the Crimsonmoon Lunabear, Perrin instructs you to return to Mossui Town. Make your way back to her, and she will reward you with various quest prizes, including a Hisuian Growlithe.
